High school soccer is already on the pitch in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania high school soccer is underway. MaxPreps posted Fall 2026 boys rankings with Plum at 4-0 on top as of late August, followed by Abington, Lower Merion, and others that already have three or more results. The season is not a future event. It is happening on the fields right now.

Local results from the last few days show the same picture. Peters Township shut out Pine-Richland 2-0. Plum put up a 9-0 score. South Fayette, the recent Class 3A champion, picked up a clean 3-0 win. These are not scrimmages. They are the games that start the conversation about who can hold shape and finish when the legs get heavy.

College women’s soccer is already deep into its early schedule on the same calendar. That mismatch is information for a high school player: the standard is being set while school soccer is still finding its rhythm. First touch under fatigue, decisions in the final third, and whether you still track runners in the 80th minute are the things staffs are grading now.
